Mission Statement & Core Values

The Home Builders Association of Western Michigan believes in advocating, educating and giving back to our community through activities and events – large and small. We are a membership association dedicated to helping our members grow and prosper while being a local resource for homeowners to find quality services and reliable contractors. Our belief is that we are working to connect builders, associates and homeowners for a shared greater good for the community.

Our Mission

The HBA exists so that members of the residential construction industry can ethically and efficiently provide our communities with safe, quality, and affordable housing. It is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders [www.nahb.org] and the Home Builders Association of Michigan [www.buildingmichigan.org].

Our Vision

The vision of the organization is to advocate on behalf of members so they maximize their capability for success in the housing industry. The goals of the HBA are to promote home ownership, be a recognized voice of the community, support economic growth and development of the community, and to promote the professionalism of members in the industry.

Our Core Values
  • Integrity – At HBA we recognize the importance of being honest and having strong moral principles. As a driving force of our organization, we believe that each member must make a personal choice to uphold oneself to consistent moral and ethical standards. To view our full Code of Ethics

  • Education – We know a well-educated membership is the cornerstone of the home building industry. We believe that the HBA has the possibility and opportunity to facilitate learning for every member and that every member has the obligation to acquire new knowledge, skills, values, and habits to support the communities perception of our industry.

  • Credibility – We believe it is the obligation of each HBA member to actively participate in maintaining, and increasing, our community’s trust and worthiness in all home builders industries.

Strengthening Our Community

Annually, the HBA produces the Home & Garden Expo and Parade of Homes. Members of the association present their businesses and finished homes to the community through these events. The organization and its members give back to the community through charity events such as, Fast-Built, Ramp-a-thon, and the HBA Truck Pull. Please see our Community Projects Page
