Why Donate to the HBA of Michigan Legal Action Fund?

Your support of the Legal Action Fund directly fuels the HBA of Michigan’s ability to stand up for the residential construction industry in the courts—and we’re making a real impact.

Most recently, we filed two lawsuits against the State of Michigan’s LARA Department to stop the rushed and costly implementation of outdated 2021 residential codes. Thanks to this legal action, the August 29th enforcement date has been successfully paused while our case is heard. Our goal is to secure the adoption of the more efficient and modern 2024 residential code.

This is just one example of how the Legal Action Fund protects your business from harmful policies. Other recent legal efforts include:

Winning back permit overcharge fees in Troy
Blocking a natural gas ban in Ann Arbor
Advising Kentwood on illegal ordinance language
Challenging misuse of building department funds in Oshtemo
Fighting the unlawful implementation of a new energy code
