The HBA's Remodelers Council undertook a community project for a local Marine veteran, Timothy Price, in November 2019 after being contacted by the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors. Here's Tim's story:

 

Early in the summer of 2019, Tim and his fiancé (now wife) Jennifer, bought their forever home with the intentions of remodeling it for their family of 4 to live in, including Tim, Jen and their two small children. Several weeks into their remodel, he started getting a headache. After a few trips to the ER, the family was informed that Tim had a mass inside his brain and that surgery would be required. He then had to have a large portion of a Glioblastoma removed and began radiation.

 

After the surgery, he was wheelchair bound and did well attending physical therapy. The doctors were hopeful for recovery. 

 

He and Jen, had started to meet with a few of our members, picking out finishes for their new home, when COVID-19 put everything on hold. During this time, Tim's health started to decline. The family learned the cancer had returned and just a short week after hearing this terrible news, Tim lost his courageous fight against cancer.
